Elected Officials

The township trustees are elected during general election dates and serve 4 year terms. Two Officials are on the ballet at one time during general election. The Trustees of Put-in-Bay Township fall under similar guidelines as Ottawa County and has many of the County's resources available to them. The Township works closely with Ottawa County's Engineer's Office and Prosecutors.

The duty of a township trustee is to provide fair and representative government to all citizens according to law and to the best of their ability. Their goal is to make certain the township remains an enjoyable place to live for both permanent and seasonal residents.
Put-in-Bay Township Trustees

Matt Miller

Matt graduated from Put-in-Bay High School and is married to Laurie Miller. He has three children, Tavis, Mike, and Sonya. He worked for the Miller Boat Line for 37 years before becoming the Bass Island Park Manager for the Ohio Department of Natural Resources. He has served as a Township Trustee for 20 years and served on Village Council for 7 years.

Chris Cooper

Chris grew up coming to Put-in-Bay as a summer resident and now resides permanently on Put-in-Bay with his wife, Joy, and their two children, Meredith and Rachel. He is an Eagle Scout and a graduate of Bowling Green State University and co-owns the local Hardware Store as well as four gift shops.

Eric Engel

Eric is a graduate of Put-in-Bay High School. He has two children, Anna Meredith, and two step children, Hannah, and Alice. He has worked for the Miller Boat Line for 29 years. He has served as the Township Zoning Inspector and as Chairman of the Put-in-Bay Township Port Authority.
